There is such a bittersweet beauty in this painting. My grandmother’s earthly life has come to an end, but her presence has not disappeared. It lives on—in our family, in our memories, in the people she loved, in the community she poured into, and in the countless relationships she nurtured throughout her life.

I’ve learned in the process of love and loss that relationships allow a life to reach far beyond itself. There is an impact that is carried forward in our memories.

I’m grateful this painting was created in worship, with my children, surrounded by community, and completed with a deeper understanding of what it means to live a cherished life of faith.

I will deeply miss my grandmother who was also my dear friend. May she rest in peace.
