About the Artist

Emily Kulze grew up in the coastal town of Beaufort, SC teaching herself art through observation. Early on, she recognized her passion for painting, expounding on this and other disciplines through various summer programs. In high school, she attended programs at Winthrop College, SCAD, and received a scholarship to study abroad in Spoleto, Italy. Undecided on whether to pursue a career in arts or sciences, Emily explored both as an undergraduate at Wake Forest University.

At WFU, she began her pursuit to become a modern-day Renaissance woman.  Her collegiate career began as a studio art major, a member of the Wake Forest Dance Company, and an avid student in the liberal arts. She spent a semester abroad in Paris, France, where she became an authorized copyist at the Louvre. Upon her return, she began volunteering as an art therapist and discovered something more was missing. She craved balance between art and service to others. Seeking to live out her school motto, Pro Humanitate: the use of knowledge, talents, and compassion to better the lives of others, she began study in the Pre- Allied Health program at WFU.

Currently Emily has shifted from her role as a Surgical Physician Assistant to a stay home mom and full-time artist to satisfy her desire to create and care for others. Emily strives to connect with community by displaying her work in local businesses and events. She is currently a featured artist at Made in ALX and Made in Virginia. Most recently, she was a proud participant of Bethesda Row Arts Festival, Art on the Avenue in Del Ray, and March 150 at Premiere Gallery. She conducts most of her business via an online platform.

The collection, “Living Water,” is a culmination of landscapes, florals, and nostalgic scenes that encourages moments of pause and reflection. Emily remarks, “creating has always been an innate gift that brings me clarity within and spiritual connection with others by rippling peace, inspiration, and relatability into the community.”
